Aside from the pediatrician, Target was the Squirrel's first public outing. I vividly remember taking my time getting her out of her car seat and into her sling on our first Target adventure - to pick up Aveeno Baby lotion. Even at a few weeks old she was very curious about the activity in the store. It's still the only place she stays awake for - she usually falls asleep when I have her wrapped while I'm shopping. I love me some Target. Ours is a Super Target and doesn't have as much selection in the clothing department, but it's still rare that I come out of Target without at least one baby item. It's usually something a few sizes larger and from the clearance rack.
April is Earth Month and Target is celebrating with a few sweepstakes and special promotions. My favorite? A
free reusable shopping bag to a select few customers on Sunday, April 17, starting whenever your local Target opens. Not that I need any more shopping bags mind you, as I'm really good at leaving them in my trunk, or worse yet in the garage, when I go grocery shopping.

We have at least 30 of the damn things, all used at least once, all forgotten countless times. For some time I tried leaving a bag in the front seat of my car, with more in the trunk, so I would remember to take the whole lot in when I shopped. The bags never seemed to make their way back into my car after a while.
Now, we keep all our bags in bunches in a cubby in the garage, with one single bag always hanging untouched on the doorknob as a reminder to me to toss a bunch in the car before I go shopping. I'm getting better but I still feel guilty when I strut into the store, baby strapped on, completely empty handed having absentmindedly forgotten my usual bouquet of bags.
Despite my guilt and utter disdain for plastic bags - the feeling, the sound, everything about them! - they do still come in handy. But I'll save that for another post.
